You dont need to be Ghetto... by Animegirl300 You dont need to be Ghetto... by Animegirl300
... to be black.

Black is an RACE. It shouldn't be a stereotype.

:lmao:
I'm part Black :/
I go to a majority black High School.
And if there is ONE thing I can't stand, it's when other black people feel the need to ACT ghetto just to impress their friends and FEEL black.

If you live in a middle class family with a big house and everything that you can ever want in terms of comfort and safety: you are not ghetto.
(Your PARENT'S might be if they grew up OUT of it.)

I'm not hating on people who actually ARE ghetto becasue of their lifestyle, but there is a big difference between trying to act ghetto just so you can conform to the usual image of a black person.

It's just STUPID >___<

Also note; it's not ALL black people who DO act ghetto.
It's just a significant amount.
And they are just as much annoying to OTHER black people as non-black people :P

Some people feel that you need to act and dress a certain way, to really be a part of their culture.
But why?
If you're black but you don't listen to rap or loud music: then you're still black!

If you're black and you don't dress with your jeans hanging ALL the way down: you're still black.

If you are black and you don't need a weave() or you don't get a relaxer you're still black.

I could go ON AND ON about all these stereotypes that black people try to conform to, JUST to feel unified with the rest of the race.

Really it's all very stupid.
Just be yourself, and stop trying to fake your way into society.
Especially one that's worse off than you really are.

I agree all the way. Even though my skin color is Whiter Than White.

Lol, I am the intersection of nerd and geek.
As a girl, I know your pain, though. Offline, I'm expected to be a catty, fashion-obsessed bimbo or a country "music"-loving "good rural conservative Christian girl," and since I'm an atheist and I'm actually INTELLIGENT, I get negative reactions. And ONline, I'm expected to love 'shipping, especially slash, and be obsessed with anime... Spoiler alert: I'M NONE OF THOSE THINGS. I just want to punch other girls in the face and yell "STOP BEING STEREOTYPICAL!!!"

I'm black, too. I would be considered by my peers as acting "white." since I speak standard enligsh and not in dumbonics or don't share their same interest into rap and gangster culture. With the addition of liking Video-Games,sci-fi, fantasy, science-fantasy, tabletop and rpg games, heavy metal, a little bit of education. All the things white people are to enjoy.

I could just say who gives a damn on what they say, but apparently I've been guilt tripped by my parents for liking heavy metal may disassociate me with other black kids. I asked about the previous rule of not caring what people think of you or me, but this somehow managed to transcend that.

A black woman at the day program I go to actually got accused of "acting white" just because she doesn't act ghetto. That's just messed up - black people can be classy too. They're not all ghetto. I feel bad for the black people who act normal - they don't want to be associated with the ghetto hoodrats.

Black and not ghetto! (well, light skinned lol) Actually, there's no such thing as race anyway. We only look different because we come from different parts of the world.

However, we live on the same Earth and all bleed red.

The first ghettos were actually areas where Jews lived in Europe. And ofcourse there are Irish, Russian, Italian, and Asian ghettos. Yet no one ever looks at them.

When I went to secondary school, I got called an oreo because I'm black and don't act ghetto.
Not all black people act like that and the ones that do to look cool annoy me because they are basically reinforcing the stereotype.

Hell yes this is true! I am black and Puerto Rican and people think that if you're certain races, you're ghetto. People are so sterotypical and dumb. I don't act ghetto, I don't listen to rap (That often, and not even the bad rap.), I don't get up in people's faces, and I don't do illegal stuff.

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THE WORLD?! And why are their races? I thought we're all humans, are we reconized as a particular "species" of some sort? :? They're are very few differences in our genes. Oh well, that's the world we live in.

It's just the sad reality of the world we live in. So many blacks will continue reinforcing the stereotype and causing racism to continue.

I, personally, believe "race" is a made up thing anyway. We're all interbreed able, and the only reason we have differences in physical appearance is because of the different regions we're from. The reason people are black is because they come from hot extremely sunny areas where it's best for you to be dark so you can survive. The reason people have "slanty" eyes is because we come from a place with very harsh weather. The reason people are white is because they come from relatively soft environments. Not because one person is better than the other. AT ALL. Desert people look different than tundra or Jungle people. Plains people look different than island people. Everyone looks different because THE WORLD is different. We just make it into "race" because we're dumb and can't see how WE'RE ALL EXACTLY THE SAME. Does any given "race" have less emotions or more of ANYTHING than the rest? No. Do we THINK differently (on a basic level)? Nope. We still use our brains to determine our actions, and to regulate our bodily functions.
Consciously trying to "fit into a stereotype to match a race" is just as racist as actively spouting racist propaganda. It's really not doing you any favors, and it actually makes you look like a bigoted racist.

LOL!
This XD

And that is actually genetically factual:
On a genetic basis, we're all pretty much the same: there's not real differences in genetics of humans.
There ARE some traits that we get that are consistent with the areas we live in, and that is what cause people to look different due to adaptation to our separate environments ^^'

Since you make a lot of stamps, I have a question for you, which may sound stupid but I don't make stamps very often at all. How do you design a cool template and get the text to change and loop?
Reply
:iconanimegirl300:
Animegirl300 Featured By Owner Apr 8, 2011  Hobbyist General Artist
Oh! It's okay ^^
There is never anything wrong with asking a question.

So: In order to make your own template, all you need is a photo-editing software(I think that Photoshop or GIMP are the most ideal)

So you start with a transparent rectangle that is 100 x 50 pixels long. (That way the stamp will show as a DA preview.)

To make the edges you use your polygonal lasso tool and start making jagged edges all around the rectangle. AFter it's been selected you fill it in with whatever you want the stamp edges to be.

After you do this you draw a rectangle in the middle of the stamp. Fill that with the different color: it'll the the inner edge of your final rectangle.

Now you make your final rectangle and also fill this with a different color.

Now you're ready for gradients:

1. Select whichever layer of your stamp: OUter edges, inner edge, or inner area.
2. Pick the colors you want to use in your gradient.
3. Then you simply drag the gradient arrows along until it has the desired look.

You repeat this for all the areas you want to put under a gradient.

^^ That's all you do~

Awesome, thank you so much! I've made two but I wasn't sure how to get the jagged stamp edges. I used the gradient tool on one and I like the way it turned out. And then to make an animated stamp, you just use an animated GIF maker?

Seriously, there's just so many black individuals, guys and girls alike, that try and act ghetto in the most trashiest ways. And I'm thinking to myself "Why? Why would you go on with this stereotypical black where you seem like an uneducated moron when you've been given the opportunity to break out of it?" It seriously bugs me and the few black friends I've made here that don't act like that.

I DEFINITELY don't act like that, and I've been teased by others because of it. I really hate that. It's like people make it seem like it's not okay to be yourself. Well, I'd rather be myself and feel happy, than to act like something I'm not and feel like crap.

This honestly really bugs me because I really can't understand why you would want to conform to a society that's stereotyped as stupid, loud, and obnoxious. It doesn't escape the racism, it perpetuates it.

Wouldn't he smarter choice be to allow everybody the chance to be themselves instead?

um not to be a dumper but black isn't an ethnicity it's a race but if you are African-american then thats your ethnicity because ethnicity is the specific detail of an individual and a race is a group of ppl such as Black, White, Asian, or Latino

oh n also I must say I agree and disagree with your stamp because some people do act and are ghetto but like you said in the description (If you live in a middle class family with a big house and everything that you can ever want in terms of comfort and safety: you are not ghetto. ) a place you can live can also be called ghetto and just because you have a lot of income doesn't mean anything. also what you said in your description (I could go ON AND ON about all these stereotypes that black people try to conform to, JUST to feel unified with the rest of the race.) just because some black people do fall under certain categories of these stereotypes that doesn't mean they are and act ghetto and ill give you an example i have friends that have corn-rolls, wear weave, dress baggy, listen to loud rap music, and go ham to their favorite song at a party, but get to the education all A's so what does being acting or living in the ghetto have to do with a "individual"?

You know what's really sad? Back in the day, when I was in elementary and middle school, I was discriminated and bullied because I didn't act like a ghetto ass nigger and instead spoke like a "white chick". Now my brother is going through the exact same hell. I hate the fact that people see skin colour and automatically associate some stupid stereotype with it. Even though stereotypes do have some truth to them, there are still a majority of any demographic that doesn't act that way. People need to open their eyes and see that.
